About The Festival

Since its launch in 2002 the Portobello Film Festival has presented a successful annual urban art strand showcasing pioneering artists like Blek Le Rat, Jamie Hewlett and Eine throughout West London.

This year the strand is taken from a fringe event and launched as a stand-alone festival through a spectacular weekend exhibition at The Louise Blouin Foundation, together kicking the film festival into action.

The exhibition, supported by Arts Council England, includes artwork and installation from 13 contemporary artists including Joe Rush,  Wreckage International and the Mutoid Waste Company, as seen in the London 2012 Paralympic Closing Ceremony and the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2013.

Also on the bill is a diverse range of exciting contemporary artists spanning street art, kinetic sculpture and more from the likes of Teddy Baden, Dotmaster, Zeus, Sickboy, Peter Dunne,  #CodeFC, Giles Walker, Cosmo, Carrie Reichart, Lucy Sparrow and Solo One; all alongside a programme of film screenings, music, workshops and special events.

Opening night takes place Wednesday 28th August with a live VJ set from Red Dog and the world premiere of Phil Strongman’s anticipated documentary about the pioneer of British Punk, ‘Anarchist: The Malcolm McClaren Generation’.
